About Legnoart
Legnoart (pronounced Lay-no-art) is made in the northern
italian town of Omegna, about 50 miles from Milan. Omegna,
built around Lake Orta and surrounded by mountains, is a beautiful
part of the world and if you should be travelling in the area
we would love to show you our factory.
This area has a long history of working with wood and stainless
steel and is home to several well-known design-led housewares
companies. If you visited the place you would easily see why
so many designers find inspiration there. The business is
run by Enrico Albertini and is very much a family business.
Enrico does the designs himself. He likes products that share
form and function.
They must be beautiful to look at and perform well too. Each
product must be perfect, true to the designer's creation,
no matter if is more difficult to produce or takes a little
longer.
The amount of work necessary to create these items mean they
will be out of reach of many people but they are a "must
have" for anyone seeking product at the pinnacle of design
and manufacturing ability. When your leisure time is spent
sailing in a natural lake, it is easy to see why we have a
concern for nature and the planet. We use a lot of wood. Worldwide
use of timber has often involved intense felling of forests
but the trees are the lungs of the world and vital to the
balance of the planet. Reduction of this "green lung"
reduces the quality of the very air we breathe!
